I’ve got quite a few road trips planned this year—trips where my partner Kristine and I (and the dogs) pitch our tent at campgrounds rather than backcountry campsites.
The trips are for a number of writing and video jobs I’ve been given by various tourism groups. And for that, I need a lot of charged batteries for my multiple cameras and laptop. Introducing my new BLUETTI AC70P.
It’s got plenty of battery capacity, a total of 864 Wh (watt-hour) and a continuous power output of 1000 W. The AC70P charges from zero to 80 per cent in just 45 minutes. And the really cool part is its stunning Power Lifting Mode, which can increase peak power to as much as 2000 W. I can run anything from electric grills to hair dryers if I want to during my travels. It fully charged my Sony Adventure Camera (their version of the GoPro) in 45 minutes, only losing two per cent charge.
There are eight charging options: two AC plug-ins, four DC USB options, a 12V car charger and a plug-in for a solar panel (and yes, I got their solar panel as well). And the advanced ECO mode automatically turns off to save energy when no devices are connected.
As a bonus, there is also a BLUETTI app for your phone to operate everything from there. It connects by way of Bluetooth to gain information like power consumption, and you can even adjust your settings through the app. To be quite honest, I haven’t tried that part out yet.
I gotta say, it’s also darn nice to have this bigger power station at home. I have the smaller BLUETTI AC2A that I reviewed for Explore a few months back.
The power at my house goes out on a regular basis. I live on a windy hill, and when a storm hits, I generally go dark for a day or more. So, the large capacity AC70P is well worth the price tag just for that alone.
